One pound down so far
One day with no refined carbs/sugars, and one pound down. This is shaping up to be a pretty good week! I’d guess I’ve lost about 3 pounds since cutting back on the carbs and adding extra protein. The meals are more filling, too.
I didn’t feel like cooking breakfast yesterday, so I just had an apple with peanut butter. I also didn’t pack a lunch, so I got a salad from...

So, I just ate a bunch of chocolate. At least it won’t be in the house to tempt me this week. I’ve got a banana in the freezer waiting to be turned into ice cream later. I’ve never tried that before and I hope it will help my sweet tooth this week.

Two weeks until my next race
I think I’m getting the hang of the race thing. I’ve done a tiny race in my town and a huge one in Little Rock. I think I like the larger races better for some reason, but that might just be because that race went better.
I did 3.6 miles this morning, and once again my right foot started going numb after about 2.25 miles. It’s so annoying because I have to stop and get the...

NSV!
My co-worker’s son is home from college for spring break and dropped by to have lunch with her. When she got back to the office she said he asked what I was doing because I had lost a lot of weight. I call that a non-scale victory! I only see this kid maybe once a year, so he is more likely to notice a change than the people who see me every day.

4 Hour Body
I’ve been reading The 4 Hour Body this week. Pretty interesting. I’ve decided to experiment with no refined carbs/sugars next week to see what happens. If I drop a couple of pounds and feel great, I’ll continue eating much less bread/pasta/etc. than I do now. I don’t know that I’ll ever give it up completely, simply because I really like my carbs, but if next week...

New favorite breakfast sandwich
Slice up a hard-boiled egg, stack it on a slice of wheat French bread. Sprinkle blue cheese on a second slice. Microwave on half power until cheese begins to melt. Smoosh together and enjoy! Note: must like blue cheese, duh!

94monkeys asked: Thanks for the tip on the inulin. Turns out the bars don't have it but they DO have a lot of other questionable multihyphenate ingredients... maybe not such a great choice after all. Good riddance!

NSV!
A small one, anyway. I’ve had to move my grandmother’s ring from my middle finger to my pointer finger, and I can now wear my wedding band on my middle finger. Yay for skinny fingers!

2.77 mile run at the running clinic tonight. This was my warmest run and I had a hard time catching my breath. We did a timed mile and I was a few seconds slower than our first timed mile three weeks ago. Ugh.

So, turns out eating a nice big breakfast with a little fat and lots of protein keeps me full longer. Who’da thunk?

So, for the 5K at the end of my running clinic we’re supposed to have our team shirts made, and they want a white shirt with “CABOT” in red on the front and back. Um, yawn! I’m trying to figure out what to add to my shirt to jazz it up, make it Life as a Lioness-y, or Beast Mode-y, or Do Life-y, or WTFU-y. I need some ideas! Any suggestions?

My paleo-compromise grocery shopping trip
I’m making some changes in the foods I eat; less fat-free (saturated fat is good, the body needs it), less grains. I will still eat some bread, and I’m not giving up my beloved cheese, but I think I’ll eventually be 75% there. Here’s what I bought today:
Eggs
Real butter
String cheese (fave snack at work)
Turkey pepperoni
Ground turkey
Coconut milk
Ham
Frozen...
