I was talking with my coworker about my 350lb leg press, and she acted like I was doing something wrong. She does 60 reps at 70 pounds and refuses to add more weight. She seemed to move between concern that I am somehow hurting myself and doubt that I was able to do it at all. She also thinks that she will get huge thighs if she increases the weight she presses. Sigh.

Contradicting common advice, a new study says that exercising before eating doesn’t increase the amount of fat you burn. You could even be hurting your body!
Published in the Strength and Conditioning Journal, the metastudy compared the results of several other studies. One of them looked at cyclists who trained after eating vs those who trained without eating. Not only was the amount of fat burn the same, those who trained while fasting had about 10% of their calorie burn come from protein, including their own muscle mass.
So feel free to go ahead and have that breakfast before you do your morning workout. You’re not increasing your weight loss. It could also be counterproductive by draining your muscles, and you might not be able to hit your peak intensity because you don’t have enough fuel in your body. And being able to exercise for longer and harder is key to better fitness and weight loss results.
” —Exercising Before Eating Doesn’t Increase Fat Burn - The ConsumeristPLEASE don’t ask me where I found the key to my bike lock after not being able to ride as planned this morning. Please don’t make me tell you it was in the handlebar bag on the bike itself. I’ll be so embarrassed if I have to admit that.
So I posted last night that my Soaring Wings carpool sign-up page was gone. That was on my laptop at home. Here on my work computer the page is still there. It’s freakin’ my freak.
I hit the gym last night to make up for my sucky morning workout. I have to say I’m glad I went because I really enjoyed it. Thought I’d have the gym to myself, but a guy came in after a couple of minutes. I had decided to focus on my upper body, so I did dumbbell bench presses, shoulder presses, and curls, also assisted pull-ups, chin-ups, and dips, and planks. I started out with 20lb dbs for the bench press, then moved up to 25lbs. I was so impressed with myself that I decided to try 30lbs and about had my right arm yanked off backward from the weight! I put those back pretty quickly.
Dude, tumblr stole my Soaring Wings carpool sign-up page! The whole page, poof, gone. So weird!
Overheard on the lakefront path. SMH (via irunchi)
haha. One reason I don’t like the lake front path. A lot of ignorant people. Percentage wise probably the same as any other path but you just run into them more, sometimes literally. My friend ran into a cyclist cause he wasn’t paying attention and broke his (my friend’s) arm. The cyclist was ok.
I was just thinking yesterday how I hate when bikers don’t say left.
(via idontgetrunnershigh)
I much prefer them to say “left” than not. I recently had a cyclist whistle at me like I’m a dog or something, and I got SO MAD! I ride, too, so I can see both sides. I tend to say, “Excuse me.”

I forgot to plan my workout for this morning, so I ended up futzing around and didn’t get much done. I plan to make another trip this evening to make up for it. The big question now is, can I run on my gimp foot tomorrow? Hmm.
